EDUCATION ABROAD PROJECTIn an era in which the importance of global awareness and internationalization are even more important, Honors education abroad encourages students to take their education beyond the classroom by learning about other cultures through supervised writing and research in a WSU-sponsored program. This is a good choice for you if you are interested in the political, social, economic, and cultural viewpoints of one or more cultures.
If you decide that education abroad is the best choice for your Honors thesis, you should visit the International Education Office and/or the Honors College to discuss possible sites for your project. Your second task is to identify a faculty member on campus who has expertise in your research area and is willing to serve as the faculty supervisor for your project. Working closely with this faculty member, prepare a proposal to the Honors Thesis Review Committee that describes the research question you will address and the specific goals you have established for your education abroad experience. Include a bibliography of the resources you will use for this research. A research proposal must be submitted and approved by the Honors Thesis/Project Committee prior to studying abroad. During your education abroad experience, keep careful records of your experiences, reflections, and reactions in a journal. If you utilize interviews in your project, include a copy of your questionnaire. When you have completed your education abroad, write up your findings and submit one bound copy to your supervising faculty member and two bound copies to the Honors College by Monday of the week prior to your oral presentation. College of Business and Economics students must have special permission from the CBE Dean's Office to pursue this option.
