Important Financial Aid Reminder For Students

The following notice was sent to all current WSU students, via my.WSU,

regarding the importance of filing their financial aid application (FAFSA)

and/or applying for summer 2006 financial aid by the March 1 priority

deadline.The notice was as follows:

If you are currently receiving financial assistance and/or plan to seek

financial aid for 2006-2007, you need to file the Free Application of

Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 1, 2006. If you fail to

meet the priority filing date of March 1st, you are likely to disadvantage

yourself in the aid process for 2006-2007, as demand for limited aid

resources is outpacing the availability of desirable funding types,

especially grants and work study. Don’t jeopardize your financial aid

prospects for 2006-2007—apply by March 1st!!!

If you have already filed the FAFSA for 2005-2006, you may file a Renewal

FAFSA for 2006-2007, which is a simpler process. In order to do this, go to

www.fafsa.ed.gov and select “Fill out a Renewal FAFSA” under “Filling Out a

FAFSA.”

If you have already filed a FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA for 2006-2007,

congratulations, you have met the March 1 priority deadline. You will hear

from our office in March regarding any additional information we may need.

SUMMER 2006 FINANCIAL AID: If you are planning on attending WSU this summer

and would like to be considered for priority funding, you need to fill out

a summer application with our office by March 1, 2006. In order to do this,

go to www.finaid.wsu.edu/summerapp.htm and complete the application

on-line. You must also have a 2005-2006 FAFSA on file in order to be

considered for financial aid in the summer.

Let us know if you have questions regarding the FAFSA process or summer

financial aid. We would be happy to assist you. We can be reached by phone

at 509-335-9711 or e-mail finaid@wsu.edu.
