HONORS EXCHANGES TO STUDY IN AARHUS, DENMARK and SWANSEA, WALES
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to study abroad for a semester or a whole year in Wales or Denmark paying the same tuition and fees as WSU. An affordable experience which will change your life forever. Contact the Honors College for more information or the Education Abroad office (Bryan Hall 108). Courses you choose abroad will transfer back easily. Engineering students are encouraged to consider the exchange to Swansea during your sophomore year and you will not miss a step if you plan well. Swansea has been ranked one of the best places to study abroad. Aarhus University offers a variety of courses taught in English by Danish professors for local and foreign students together. Aarhus is Denmark’s second largest city (the size of Spokane) and a lively town by the sea with a great university. Denmark is a safe country with friendly people who speak English as a second language. A semester at Aarhus costs the same or slightly less than a semester at WSU. Great experience! See Honors for details! Deadline for applications, March 1, 2006.

In his new book, Democracy Matters, Dr. West returns to the analysis of the arrested development of democracy - both in America and in the Middle East. Dr. West is a professor at Princeton University and has held positions at Union Theological Seminar, Yale University, Harvard University, and the University of Paris. His talk will be held in the Beasley Coliseum this Friday at 7:00 PM. It is free and open to the public.

LAW AND ORDER?

If you enjoy watching television programs about law enforcement and want to have a “real world” experience, you might consider applying for the Washington State University Police Internship Program. This is a selective program for students from any major, including biology, computer science, psychology, and criminal justice. Police interns are WSU students working as non-paid volunteers for the Washington State University Police Department. Students who are admitted will help with public safety issues and work side-by-side with local law enforcement officials on real cases. Although you don’t have to register for college credits, many departments do allow participation in this program to count for internship credits. The time commitment is 18 hours a month, including 8 hours a month riding in a patrol car with a local police officer. Interested in applying for next year? The deadline is March 3, 2005 and the local contact is Joe Dillon, who can be reached at 335-4711. Written, oral, and physical agility tests are included in the application.
