University Honors College 2006-07 Scholarship Application
For consideration for scholarships in the 2006-2007 academic year, please submit the following materials by 5:00 pm, Tuesday, January 17th, to the Honors College office. A complete packet consists of:

1. A completed application form (PART 1)
2. A resume or curriculum vita
3. An unofficial copy of your WSU transcript or a printed copy from METRO
4. A 500-1000 word essay which describes your career goals(s) and how your coursework, extracurricular activities, and life experiences have contributed to attaining this goal.

The Honors College has limited scholarship money to distribute. Please note that some scholarships are based on financial need while others are based on merit. In addition, many have specific criteria such as the requirement that the funds be used for study abroad or to pursue a specific major.

Your essay will be weighted heavily in the final determination of scholarship awards. The essay is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants for these funds. Your goal is to show the review committee that you are uniquely qualified for the scholarship(s) you are applying for based on your academic record and your activities. Therefore, you should take great care in developing this “snapshot” of yourself.

If you are applying for scholarships based on financial need, please be aware that we base our determination of need on Washington State University’s determination of need which is driven by the FAFSA. Scholarship Services and the Honors College encourage all students to apply because some scholarships have criteria other than financial need.

Scholarship descriptions, forms, and eligibility information are available at www.wsu.edu/honors

Scholarship Deadline: Tuesday, January 17th, at 5:00 p.m.
Turn your packet in at Honors Hall 130 or email it to honors@wsu.edu

Remember to turn in Part I with all the blanks filled in and the required attachments (resume, transcript or copy of METRO, and your essay)!

Awards will be announced by March 10th.
