With the exception of the Treasurer Officer position, there was only one candidate interested in the position. According to MBAA constitution, it is not necessary to vote as long as the motion to elect those interested in seconded. The following candidates are now officers:
Relations Officer-
Colin Pappajohn
Information Services Officer-
Jeffrey Cheng
Leadership Development Officer-
Amy Trudnowski
Two candidates were running for the Treasurer Officer position, therefore, an anonymous vote was held. Kelley counted the votes and the following candidate was voted into the position:
Treasurer-
Jon Coder
Thank you to those who ran and congratulations to our new officers!
Career Services Officer position needs to be filled
The question was raised of opening this position again for nominations. After group discussion it was decided that nomination for candidates would not re-open. The duties of this officer position will be taken over by Erika with the help of those who volunteered for Career Related events.
Announce new officers and discuss expectations - Erika
Take photos of officers for website
Erika forgot to bring camera. Pictures will be taken at a later meeting.
Collect dues - Erika
$10 for the year
The issue of dues was raised in the group. It is not necessary in the MBAA constitution to collect dues. However, it was agreed upon that active members would like to collect dues in order to increase the MBAA reserves for future activities.
Jon Coder will be accepting dues from MBAA members. He will give a receipt.
Discuss upcoming events - Erika
Information sessions Tuesday, September 18th and Tuesday, September 25th from 12-1 PM
We need to increase participation in information sessions if we want to continue arranging them. Erika will be in charge of communicating with Stefany about information sessions. All MBAA members need to encourage other MBA students to attend these benefical sessions. Often, refreshments or lunch will be provided.
Relay for Life September 29th
WSU Marketing Club has asked if we would like to participate in this event along with them. It was brought to the group for discussion. It was unanimously decided that we would like to participate in this event. Colin is heading up this service project.
Brad Hansen would like to look into doing a service project with Habitat for Humanity for the Spring semester.
Social events - Football game September 15th
A group will gather before the football game against the University of Idaho Vandals. All are invited to attend. We will be sitting together at the game.
Brad would like to organize a bowling event for the October social event.
Career Expo networking event in October
Have an event exclusive to MBA students and the employers who hire them. There would be appetizers and mingling with visiting employers. Group decided this would be a worthwhile event and brainstormed ways to increase student participation. Erika will take on and lead this event with help from the Career Events committee.
