MICHELLE ROSS
PAINTING
Burgeon, 8.5' x 9', oil on panel, 1994
A painting is a complex surface to enter, not a window to look through passively. It is a place of labor for both the artist and the viewer in order that there be communication. It can be a place to linger and risk, to seek subjectivity and multiplicity. I believe this surface to be a potential threshold to emotional knowledge essential for survival.
