CERAMICS

Untitled, 8' x 2-1/2', ceramic, 1994
I see patterns as being a complexity stemming from the repetition of a simple form. Natural pattern formations, such as the veins of a leaf or the rings of a tree trunk, are often a visual record of growth. Through my sculpture, I interpret this visual record as a way of seeing, appreciating, and perhaps understanding nature's cycle of life, growth, and regeneration.
